In a survey conducted by McCollins Media, web design and social media marketing agency, it was revealed that 90 percent of people hit the snooze button in the morning on a daily basis. This leads to a ‘mad-rush’  and a consequently chaotic situation during the morning routine, the study indicates.

In an attempt to address this issue, McCollins Media has launched Code Blue – an application available on the app store. Code blue aims to integrate social media to prevent over-snoozing.

“Waking up in the mornings is not a beloved chore and could be difficult given the erratic work schedules and demands,” says Meghna Kothari, Director, McCollins Media, in a press statement. “Code Blue is an innovative social alarm app that alerts your Facebook friends that you need to be woken up in case you have come down with a bout of snoozing.”

Code blue allows users to set an alarm and then to choose a friend to intervene. This is achieved through the app’s built-in feature to post a request for a wakeup-call on the users Facebook page tagging the pre-selected friend(s). Once the friend receives the notification, they will call the user to wake them up.

“Code Blue is not designed to be a stern taskmaster, on the contrary it works subtly in the background, and will alert your pre-selected friends only once you have hit the snooze button X number of times,” Meghna adds.
