YouTube announced today the winner of the Lantern Award, a YouTube-first designed to highlight the best Ramadan ad in 2016 based on an algorithm that takes into account views, engagement, and qualitative elements. The Winner of The Lantern Award went to VIVA Kuwait for a very funny two-part series, Where is my bowl?, on misplacing cookware after dinner with guests.
Alex Brunori, head of creative agencies at Google says in a press statement: “During Ramadan, the ad world embraced a sense of community, giving and togetherness and produced ads that showcased true originality. The winning ad had the highest rate of organic views and highest rates of comments, likes and shares on the platform.”
